So the bill for the 10 AMP generator electricity bill is 280,000 LL, add to that the normal elecricity of Lebanon bill which is around 40,000 to 60,000, the total elecricity bill for June 2017 in Lebanon would be around $225 that's more than 1/3 of the minimum wage in Lebanon.
So immagine a house whos living on the minimum wage, they would have to pay 1/3 of their salary if they want to live a decent life with air conditionning. Yes they can opt for the 5 AMP, then the bill would be around $110 which is still a very big number for a normal house hold.
Are we paying the highest electricity bill in the world? I couldn't find concrete numbers online but in the US the highest bill for electricity and gas combined is at around $190, the average is around $90, needless to say that the minimum wage in the US is way higher than Lebanon.
I'm not sure who's to blame and there are no garantees and the prices will go down in July, I actually think that it will go more high as the heat of the summer is just starting and ACs are more needed during this period.
Meanwhile, our lovely politicans are enjoying their vacations outside watching football or chilling!
