these two pictures are perhaps the simplest ones that i've ever taken, yet they represent more than almost all the other ones.
isn't it beautiful? submitting to a higher power and completely getting disconnected from this world that we live in; a world where there's so much anxiety and stress every day. a place where we constantly strive for more and more tangible material: money, clothes, electronics. we want more and more every single day and we become so engrossed in going after what we want that we forget the bigger picture, which is to live simply and happily and help others do that too.
for me, that is what these pictures resemble. they show people detaching themselves from a toxic world that isn't going to exist in 5, or 10, or 100, or 5000 years. they show beings that are taking time out of their busy lives to show Allah (SWT) that no matter how occupied we might be, we won't let that become our first priority.
that is one thing that praying helps you do. it helps you push everything that might be discomforting you to the back of your mind, if only for 15 minutes each day. you stop thinking about all your problems and you just connect with Allah (SWT), and you talk to Him, telling Him everything on your mind and in your heart. things that you know people would judge you for, or things that you're too ashamed of yourself for doing. He won't judge you. you tell Him whatever you want, and you know that He will listen to you and forgive you. that, for me, is just so beautiful and comforting, and it keeps me sane. and yes, sometimes you just get too attached to this world that you find it very hard to find the time to pray, so you end up delaying it or performing it with minimal effort. this might not happen to everyone, but i do know it happens to me sometimes. that doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with you. everyone goes through downs in their lives and this only counts as one of them. you just need to keep pushing and reminding yourself of the inevitablity of the temporariness of this world. .
anyway, this is what these pictures remind me of. and i hope they help anyone going through a rough patch. ❤
