Sawfar Grand Hotel was built in the late 1880s by the Sursock family. It was the first casino in Lebanon and was well known for its high ranked clients, parties, cinema and nightclub. Located near the train station, travelers taking Beirut Rayak line would stop by and stay at the hotel.
