Maher Attar was recently reunited with Samar Baltaji 33 years after his portrait of her made the cover of the New York Times. Attar took the portrait of Samar and her daughter as they walked through Beirut during the civil war. Samar, now a double amputee, has turned to begging to provide for her family. Maher says the chance meeting has left him with a “personal duty” to help Samar. “Now I know she needs help.” Photos: @photographermaherattar
