This ancient castle which is near the borders of Lebanon and Palestine, was named bel fort or beau fort (French for "beautiful fortress") by the Crusaders who occupied it in the 12th century. It also came under many different occupations including Israeli, French, Ottoman etc... Lawrence of Arabia even paid this place a visit.
