Ce week-end pourquoi ne pas découvrir le travail de la photographe libanaise Lama Mattar à l’Institut Français de Beyrouth? Elle y expose une série de portraits intitulée “Inked Minds” dans laquelle elle dévoile des personnes tatouées dans leur intimité. “Les personnes tatouées viennent de milieux très différents et ont chacune des parcours très singuliers, c’est ce que j’ai essayé de montrer”, explique Lama Mattar. L’identité, l’appartenance sociale et les stéréotypes font partie de ses thèmes de prédilection. La photographe a reçu le second prix du concours Photomed en janvier dernier. Elle est arrivée finaliste du concours de la Byblos Bank en septembre 2015. L’exposition est à découvrir jusqu’au 30 septembre.

🇺🇸 Lama Mattar’s Inked Minds photographs portray tattooed people in their own environments. Mattar believes that by clearly showing people’s inner circle, she would break the stereotype built around appearances. She sees tattoos as primarily body art and means of expressions rather than an identity label. “Tattooed people come from all walks of life and are strikingly very different. It’s this diversity & contrast that I chose to portray.” She is exhibiting at the Institut Francais in Beirut, from September 7 till 30. Lama Mattar won Second Prize at Photomed Liban in January this year and was a finalist at the Byblos Bank Award for Photography in September 2015. She started honing her photography skills 5 years ago, through a mix of self-teaching, seminars and workshops in Paris, Monaco and Beirut. In her professional life, Lama Mattar is a PhD holder and University Professor in Nutrition. ---
