---------- Did you know that winemaking in Lebanon started some 6,000 years ago? It has been developed by the Phoenicians, before Ottomans nearly wiped it out when ruling the region. In the 20th century, winemaking made a comeback, with 3 domains ruling the industry from the Bekaa Valley: Kefraya, Ksara and Château Musar. In the past 10 years, a new generation of wine producers emerged: there are today more than 40 of them, whereas there were only 3 in the 1930s. Production is still modest, with only some 3,000 hectares planted. But Lebanese wines are getting a good reputation internationally: France and the UK are the two main exports destinations.
