Ghosts vs bulldozers: the last Mamluk's monument in Beirut:🧿
A small bricky coloured domed building and some arches is what remains of the late Mamluk zawiya, built by in 1517 the mystic Mohammad Ibn ‘Arraq Al-Dimashqi.
It was meant to be a zawiya - a prayer's corner's - later it was converted to a madrasa during the Ottoman times.
It's fame is linked however to the miracles that took place while the building was discovered during the excavations to host the Solidaire project.
