Vous avez sûrement déjà vu ces photos sur vos réseaux sociaux. Il s’agit d’un soutien à Beirut Madinati (Beyrouth ma ville), un mouvement citoyen composé de 24 experts de la société civile qui se présente aux élections municipales de Beyrouth ce dimanche.
C’est la première fois que les Beyrouthins ont une vraie alternative aux partis politiques traditionnels. Les trois priorités de leur programme : le transport, le logement et l’environnement.
Beirut Madinati n’est pas la seule alternative. La liste anti-establishment de l’ancien ministre Charbel Nahas “Citoyens dans un état” se veut également réformatrice.
Encore faut-il que les Beyrouthins se mobilisent. 80% d’entre eux ne votent pas aux municipales.
All these pictures that you’ve probably seen on social media are in show of support for Beirut Madiniti (Beirut, My City), a new citizen body which runs for municipal elections in Beirut this Sunday. Composed by 24 experts, they designed a program focused on 3 main topics: transportation, housing and environment.
It’s the first time that Beirutis have an alternative to the traditional political parties. Another list, “Citizens in a State” by previous Minister Charbel Nahas, also defines itself as anti-establishment.
Now let’s hope that Beirutis are gonna vote. Traditionally, 80 % don’t even bother.
