8 athlètes libanais aux jeux de Rio /8 Lebanese athletes will compete at Rio 🇫🇷8 athlètes représenteront le Liban aux jeux Olympiques de Rio, qui débutent le 5 août prochain. 4 d’entre eux remplissent les standards de qualification: la marathonienne Chirine Njeim, la championne d’Asie d’escrime Mona Shaito, le medaillé d’argent aux jeux asiatiques de judo Nacif Elias, et la championne de ping-pong des qualifications olympiques de Hong Kong Mariana Sahakyan. 4 autres athlètes bénéficient du système de “wildcard”, qui permet aux pays d’envoyer leurs meilleurs athlètes même s’ils ne répondent pas aux standards de qualification. Il s’agit des championsde natation Gabriella Doueihy et Anthony Barbar, de la championne de tir Ray Bassil et du canoéiste Richard Merjan. La présence de ces 2 derniers aux jeux dépend encore de leurs futures performances. Un autre athlète représentera probablement le pays, dans la catégorie athlétisme. En 2012 à Londres, le Liban avait envoyé 10 athlètes.

Bassil and Merjan’s wildcard spots remain subject to further accomplishments. One more wildcard invitation might be given to one athlete in the athletics category. In 2012, at the London Games, Lebanon sent 10 athletes.
