Whilst trying to figure out what to make for dinner I remembered the gorgeously red ripe tomatoes I needed to use before they went off. #burgul a #banadoura, (cracked wheat with potatoes and onions), #برغل# على بندورة came to my mind. This is a very simple and delicious meal that used to satisfy the hunger of the men and woman who would come home after a long day’s work on their farms. A plate of pickles, a cracked onion and saj bread was all that was needed to accompany this very humble dish.
My grandmother used to call meals like this one “poor mans food”. I call it “food fit for a queen.
