What is it about this combo that tastes like lebanon, smells like lebanon and feels like lebanon? Could it be the thought of the home grown herbs Mumma used to use to mix her raw kibbeh nayeh, or could it be the mere thought of her, tirelessly, spending a good hour or so pounding the fresh red meat in a granite mortar with a wooden pestle to make the paste for the best kibbeh I have ever tasted? Maybe it just feels like home and this particular meal will always remind me of home, family, siblings, relatives and friends. It used to be our traditional Sunday lunch and I will hold on to that tradition and hope that my children will take over after me. Food made with love is food for the soul.
