The sweet scent of cinnamon and rose water fill the air as I type this. I was up all night with my beautiful friends Marta and Rita, making "#Awamat," round, sweet dumplings traditionally made in celebration of the 'Epiphany' in #Lebanon (Janurary the 5th), the night before the end of the holiday season.
On the eve of the Epiphany, families back home in Lebanon also make fresh batches of yeast and hang them outside of their homes, on a tree, in a cloth bag. It is believed that at midnight, the homes of those who follow this #tradition will be blessed with prosperity throughout the coming year, while the yeast is used to make bread and Manoush.
