The old village of Kleiat resting by The Cross Valley River..This unique... (Kasrouane) The old village of Kleiat resting by The Cross Valley River.. This unique abandoned Village dating back to centuries ago includes around 30 Houses, mills, church and bridges could be reached by long way of paved Roman stairs. The Village is now under restoration of which 3 houses have been completed.. The roman stairs were there under the reign of Adrian, who ruled until 138 AD, a passage for the pedestrians and for the Romans, who had two forts in this mountain, from Jounieh to Ghosta and the fort of Faqra. They were walking from the coast to Ajlaton and from there to two crossing points, one north-east towards Ashkout, where today we can still see remains of the Roman staircase, westward, heading towards Ghosta, where they have been cut off. The second route leads them east from Aajlatoun to the Valley of the Cross. The stone bridge did not exist at the time, it dates back to the Ottomans and is only about 300 years old. " The route you take from the "Yaton" to the courtyard of the old town shows the "Roman Pavement", length 1635 m, making it the second longest "Roman trail" in Lebanon was almost the first if not for the landfill and land, comes in the second order after Mount Moses / Jabal Moussa. Villagers used this route between 1600 and 1914 to go to the valley for shopping, buying fruits, vegetables, wheat and others. But in 1914, due to war, hunger, water scarcity and drought, diseases spread, Villagers emigrated then few of them came back in 1925 and replanted the land before they had to leave again due to the Ottoman atrocities. Last family to leave the old was in 1957. .πŸ“The Cross Valley, Kleiat, Lebanon πŸ‡±πŸ‡§ . . . . #house #kleiat #lebanon #heritage #explore #adventure #travel #travelphotography #travelporn #discover #worldcaptures #wanderlust #wayfarer #viaggio #voyage #travelstoke #travelingram #lebanonuntold #nature #naturephotography #globetrotter #world_shotz #archidaily
