Amel postule pour le prix nobel de la paix / Amel applies for the Nobel Peace Prize
🇫🇷 C’est la première fois depuis la création du prix nobel de la paix en 1901 qu’une association libanaise est candidate à cette reconnaissance. L’ONG Amel a été fondée en 1979 pour aider toute les populations dans la misère sans distinction de religion, d’origine ou politique dans un pays miné par le racisme et les divisions. L’association compte aujourd’hui 800 volontaires, 24 centres et six cliniques mobiles à travers tout le pays.
Sa candidature au prix nobel de la paix a été présenté par l’ancien ministre Georges Corm convaincu qu’ Amel a ses chances de décrocher le titre cette année même si la compétition s’annonce dure : 376 candidats sont en lice! Les résultats seront annoncés le 7 octobre prochain.On croise les doigts!

🇺🇸 The Lebanese NGO Amel is applying to the Nobel Peace Prize! It’s the first time since the creation of the prize in 1901 that a Lebanese NGO applies to it. Amel has been founded in 1979 with the objective of helping populations in need, with no distinction of religion, race, or politics. Nowadays, 800 volunteers work for Amel, in 24 centers and 6 mobile clinics located all over the country.
This application is submitted by former Minister Georges Corm. Competition is tough this year: there are 376 candidates for the Prize, out of which 228 are individuals and 148 are organizations. The results will be announced on October 7. Let’s keep our fingers crossed!
